This blog will present complementary ways in which faith and science enlighten our understanding of emotional wholeness. In this blog, the mind is viewed as the interface between body and spirit. We will explore how chemical changes in the body alter the thoughts and emotions of the mind. We will look at the way spiritual beliefs and experiences may also lead to changes in the ways we think and feel. Drawing from Steps A & R of the SMART Steps model, described in “Breaking Through Depression”, we will seek a healthier balance in the expectations we have of ourselves and others.
From the spiritual side, we will consider the value of prayer, meditation, and religious devotion to mental and physical health. As a follower of Jesus Christ, my discussions of spirituality will focus primarily on experiences shared by those seeking a relationship with Christ. From King David to CS Lewis, we will seek transcendent wisdom. While some readers will have differing spiritual beliefs or an atheistic view of life, I hope that each reader recognizes principles that you are able apply to your search for emotional wellness.
Whether seeking treatment for anxiety or depression, or tools for emotional growth, I hope that you find the words and helpful links that you need on this site.
